SPECIAL RESEARCH FUND 2018. CALL FOR DOCTORAL GRANTS
Dr Jean Pascal Zanders, an internationally renowned expert on armament and disarmament, covering chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons, talked at the KAZGUU in Astana about the role of academia in spreading the culture on non-proliferation.
On 21 May 2018, member of the ISTC Secretariat Kamen Velichkov, Senior Programme Manager and Diplomatic Advisor, and Kalamkas Shampiyeva, Project Proposal/Project Agreement Officer, held a working meeting at the ISTC Main Office with Mr. Krister Liljegren, Area Manager, Environics Oy, Finland, a European company specialized in radiation detection equipment.
The Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non‑Proliferation recently published the first publication under the VCDNP's European Non-Proliferation and Security Initiative (ENSI) – the article Promoting a Scientist’s Duty of Care 4.0 by Adriaan van der Meer.

On 26 April 2018, on invitation by the Association for Political Science (APS), ISTC took part in an International Round Table: "Kazakhstan's Chairmanship of the UN Security Council: New Opportunities on a Global Scale", convened at the ‘Best Western’ hotel in Astana.
On 5 April 2018 the newly appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Saidikram Niyazhodjaev visited the ISTC Main Office in Astana at the invitation of Executive Director David Cleave.
On 3 April 2018 ISTC Executive Director David Cleave met with Mr. Talgat Narikbayev, the Rector of KAZGUU University, and members of the leadership and the faculty of the University. The interlocutors discussed the joint organization of a discussion at the Academic Diplomatic Club, related to the ISTC – implemented projects in the field of nuclear safety and nonproliferation.
ISTC is pleased to announce the call for its 2018 Doctoral Research Grant in Economy, Law or Political Sciences. The research topic shall be related to developments and trends of chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons nonproliferation; strategic trade control or national and international trade control systems.
