Monitoring of Brucella abortus among animals of Kyrgyzstan and its specific prevention by a vaccine strain RB-51

Project Status: 3 Approved without Funding
Duration in months: 36 months

Objective

Purpose of the project: is to define the incidence of cattle brucellosis in Chui, Issyk-Kul and Naryn area of Kyrgyzstan and approbation of vaccine Brucella Abortus strain RB-51 on local animals.
Brucellosis is registered in all type of agriculture and in all type of wild animals in Kyrgyz Republic. The brucellosis of horned cattle has the most important epizootology and economic meaning. Very intense situation on brucellosis is observed among agricultural animals in northern and southeast regions of the republic, where the unfavorable centers are concentrated generally. The infection periodically appears in earlier revitalized centers. In this regard, the program on brucellosis control is developed in the republic. From 2008 the immunization of sheep and goats by vaccine PEV-1 (It was made in Jordan) are carried out with assistance of international agricultural development fund and World Bank.
Nowadays in the republic the preventive vaccination of horned cattle is not carried out. According to decision of state science veterinary department the vaccination against brucellosis by Brucella Abortus vaccine strain 19 is stopped from 1998. Currently the brucellosis among horned cattle is registered each year in Chui, Naryn and Issyk-Kul area, where the morbidity in certain regions reached up to 0,92% from number of examined animals, among yaks- up to 5 %.
In the result of project implementation the research of cattle on character causative agent of brucellosis will be carried out, the type of allocated brucellosis will be defined, the interspecific migration of causative agent brucellosis is studied, the spread of brucellosis will be defined with the use of integrated mathematical simulation approach.
Results of approbation by vaccine strain RB-51on animals will give an opportunity to use widely in brucellosis prevention of cattle and yaks in the conditions of Kyrgyzstan. Besides, there will be an opportunity to define the immunogenesis process at the local, vaccinated animals. Pathogenes brucellosis of yaks will be defined and immunity formation after vaccination by vaccine Brucella Abortus strain RB-51.
By using mathematic models will be carried out the analyze of epidemic scale, socio-economic importance of infection, tendencies and rates of dynamic epidemy in time and space, territory division in terms of real amount and potential epidemiological problems, detection of population contingent, susceptible to the increased risk of a diseases, cases and conditions of infection outbreak, analyze of risk factor and development of activity on risk management.
