Project 98-EMED-Strengtening CBRN medical emergency preparedness and response in Southeast Asia

Objective

Aim of the project is to strengthen CBRN medical emergency preparedness and response in partner countries in Southeast Asia in order to minimize health consequences following CBRN incidents, crises and events.

The expected outputs are as follows:


Output 1: Improved regional awareness among high-level stakeholders about the importance of CBRN medical preparedness, detection, response and related good practices (WP1)

Output 2: Enhanced competency of national technical personnel involved in CBRN medical response with a focus on scene management (WP2)

Output 3: Enhanced competency of national technical personnel involved in CBRN medical response with a focus on prehospital medical care (WP3)

Output 4: Enhanced competency of national technical personnel involved CBRN medical response with a focus on hospital medical care (WP4)

Output 5: Enhanced national technical competency to respond to CBRN medical emergencies at points of entry (WP5)

Output 6: Enhanced national technical competency to investigate infectious disease events (WP6)


The project will directly contribute to the Global Health Security Index in Partner Countries: Food and Water security, Chemical events and poison centers, Command, Control and Risk Communications.

The project will be implemented for the benefit of the following non-EU Partner Countries (PCs) of the EU CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative’s Southeast Asia (SEA) region , upon demonstrating their willingness to participate: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar (participation subject to European Commission approval depending on status of political situation), Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
