The industrial exhibition, World Smart Energy Week OSAKA 2022 (WSEW-Osaka) was held from November 16 to 18, 2022 in Osaka, Japan. The exhibition is categorized into five fields of "Solar cell/module and PV systems", "Rechargeable Battery", "Smart Grid", "Biomass technology" and "Decarbonisation solutions". About 12,000 visitors to this exhibition devoted their opportunities to trade, information exchange, R&D collaboration and business meetings.

This year, ISTC supported two teams, one from Kazakhstan and the other from Kyrgyzstan. Both of them could obtain valuable opportunities of explaining their products and also discussion on the future collaboration and/or business relationship with the energy executives from Japan and other countries.

The followings are short reports by each of these two teams.

(Kazakhstan team) Kazakhstan team representing “Nazarbayev University (NU)” and “Institute of Batteries LLP (IoB)” demonstrated various energy storage devices developed by our team to various potential partners and collaborators. The pouch cell based on the aqueous electrolytes which is safe and cheap manufactured at the Nazarbayev University campus attracted immense attention of those interested in rechargeable batteries. Another economically feasible pouch cell that fascinated the visitors was developed with Kazakhstan sulfur. Along with products, research directions related to the development of low-temperature, flexible batteries, micro batteries were also presented in the form of posters. During this exhibition, there were more than 15 meetings with the WSEW-Osaka participants and visitors. We had prolonged discussion with some of the Japanese companies. Many visitors discovered Kazakhstan through our booth along with knowing deeply our project and batteries. This exhibition was very effective, so that we could establish good communications with several company’s representatives.

(Kyrgyzstan team) Public Foundation Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Development (CREEED) in Kyrgyzstan presented the activity of the company, company products and the situation on energy market in the Kyrgyzstan. The Center representatives had opportunities of meeting and discussing cooperation opportunities with the representatives of some big companies in Japan and abroad. Some of CREEED’s products, such as solar driers and biogas plants have generated considerable interest and may be in demand in the Japanese market. On the other hand, there were some interesting technical solutions found by CREEED on the WSEW-Osaka exhibition (mounting structures for solar panels, fuel cells, cogeneration equipment, small solar PV systems, storage-battery solutions, etc.), which will be taken into account in future project development and implementation.
