A dedicated team of national trainers from Mongolia has successfully conducted comprehensive national training workshops in Ulaanbaatar on 11-12 October and 6-7 November 2023 within the scope of the EU CBRN CoE Project 87 “Preparedness and Response to Mass Gatherings and other Health Threats in Central Asia” project. The workshops, focusing on food safety, water safety, chemical safety, and command control and communication, received support from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia and the EU Delegation in Mongolia. During the opening speech, Her Excellency Mrs. Axelle Nicaise, Ambassador of the EU Delegation, highlighted the workshops as a key milestone in the project, delivering essential knowledge and know-how regarding the safety of mass events. Ms. Ts Uranchimeg, Director of Natural Resource Management at the Ministry of Environment and Tourism Department, expressed gratitude to all participants and EU experts for their crucial support.

Approximately 100 government officers from various government organizations and institutions actively participated and received certifications after the workshops. At the end of the training, national experts presented recommendations to enhance policies and address other issues related to mass gatherings. These recommendations are set to be submitted to the National Biosafety Committee for further consideration.

The impact of this training initiative is anticipated to elevate the collective efforts in improving knowledge, capacity building, and coordination among stakeholders involved in preparedness and response during mass gatherings and other health threats. This collaborative endeavour marks a significant stride towards ensuring the safety and well-being of communities during large-scale events.
