The Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan successfully organized a National Training event as part of the EU CBRN CoE Project 87 “Preparedness and Response for Mass Gatherings and Other Health Threats in Central Asia” (PRECA), which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the ISTC. The training took place on 28-29 July 2023 in Borovoe, Kazakhstan. The event gathered 42 participants from 21 regions of Kazakhstan, all of whom were eager to enhance their knowledge and skills regarding food and water security, as well as public health command, control and communication, particularly in the context of mass events.

The two-day training program featured comprehensive sessions led by five highly experienced master trainers, who attended the train-the-trainer course of PRECA project in Tashkent on 4-8 April 2022. The trainers focused on educating the participants about various aspects of food and water security, aiming to equip them with the necessary expertise to ensure public health and safety during mass gatherings and events.

To provide a practical learning experience, a table-top exercise was conducted on the second day of the training. This exercise enabled the participants to apply the knowledge gained and simulate real-life scenarios related to food and water security at mass events.

The training session was observed by PRECA experts, including Andrew Proudlove, Team Leader, Nigel Lightfoor, Exercise Key Expert, and John Haley, Water Safety Key Expert.
