ISTC Side Event at the BWC Working Group – Geneva, 8 December 2025

Almaty Call for Action 2025: Driving Global Partnership in Strengthening Biosafety and Biosecurity

ISTC will host a Side Event of the Seventh Session of the Working Group on Strengthening the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) on 8 December 2025 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

This session will introduce the Almaty Call for Action 2025, a strategic roadmap emerging from the high-level conference “The Future of Biosafety and Biosecurity” held in Almaty in October 2025, which gathered more than 150 experts from over 20 countries.

Building on regional leadership in Central Asia and the Caucasus, the Call for Action aims to accelerate safer science, strengthen biosafety and biosecurity systems, and promote cross-regional cooperation in support of global biological risk reduction.
