ISTC encourages Kazakh and Kyrgyz experts to work together on Export Control courses

On 28 June 2021, Bishkek hosted a Workshop on the presentation of the Course on Export Control and the Master's program on Strategic Trade Control (STC) at the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn. This academic program is being developed at the Department of "Law and Customs" of the Faculty of Law of the University in cooperation with the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) and the Center on Export Controls (CEC) with the support of the European  Union.

The Workshop on the presentation of the EC course was attended by teachers and professors of the Kyrgyz National University (KNU), the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU), the Kyrgyz Law University (KLU), the Kyrgyz State University of construction, transport and architecture (KSUCTA), government officials and experts from the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, the State Customs Service, the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as representatives of the business community.

        The project is being developed in close cooperation with professors and scientists from the Central Asian Institute for Development Studies (CAIDS) and the Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU), Kazakhstan. In this regard, CAIDS leaders Prof. Askhat Nametsha and Galym Makhmedjanov came to Bishkek to participate in the Seminar to exchange experiences and learn about the implementation of a similar academic program at the ENU.

        The Workshop addressed issues and presentations on the development of a Course on EC and the importance of further implementation of a master's program on STC, the relevance and importance of implementing educational programs on Strategic Trade Control for CA, exchanged experiences and ideas with professors and experts from the European Union and Kazakhstan.

     On June 29, 2021, discussions on the implementation of the academic program on STC continued in Raduga Resort, Issyk-Kul, where agreements between the Kyrgyz National University and the Central Asian Institute for Development Studies (CAIDS) on further signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation and Interaction were adopted.

      The implementation of the course and master program on strategic trade control will allow the country to strengthen the system of control over sensitive transfers and minimize the risks of violation of legislation in the field of export control. Also, this will increase the awareness of customs officers, company employees and government officials on export control issues.
