EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan concludes with over 28 million visitors

On October 13, EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan came to a close after 184 inspiring days, from April 13 to October 13. Under the overarching theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” the event gathered participants and exhibitors from around the world and welcomed more than 28 million visitors in total.

During the Closing Ceremony on October 13 and the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Day held the day before, speakers emphasized that in an era marked by global challenges such as polarization and conflict, the 165 official participants and millions of visitors co-created the Expo, sharing a resonant message of “unity in diversity.” This powerful spirit will now be carried forward to future Expos, including Expo 2027 Belgrade (Serbia), the International Horticulture Expo 2025 Yokohama (Japan), and Expo 2030 Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

The ISTC Pavilion was among the highlights of the International Organization Zone, attracting more than 500,000 visitors over the six-month period. In its final weeks, the pavilion was honored to host official delegations from the Government of Senegal and the Municipality of Switzerland, as well as a visit from Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan to the International Organizations Pavilion.

Participation in EXPO 2025 significantly strengthened ISTC’s visibility and outreach — not only in Japan, but among a truly global audience. The event provided a valuable platform to showcase ISTC’s expanding portfolio of projects and its mission to promote international scientific collaboration for peace, security, and sustainable development.
