International Science and Technology Centre in cooperation with the Embassy of Spain in the Republic of Kazakhstan organized Cybersecurity seminar on in Astana IT University in Astana, Kazakhstan. 

Speakers of the event were H.E. Mr. Christopher Duggan, Ambassador of Canada to Kazakhstan, Mr. Jose Antonio Alvarez Bermejo, Professor at the University of Almería (Spain), Mr. Michael Lewis, Associate professor of NU, School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, Mr. Obadare Peter Adewale, Founder and CTO Digital Encode Limited (online), Ms. Leila Rzayeva, Head of Research and Innovation Center "CyberTech" at Astana IT University and others.

Beatriz Muñoz González, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Spain in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan:

“Cybersecurity is one of our priorities. In our Embassy we develop cultural diplomacy, but we started developing science diplomacy last year and we are planning to do such events in the future”.

Gulvira Akybayeva, Vice-rector of academic work, Astana IT University: “This seminar is not just a platform for academic discussion; it is an important step to build strong security digital systems. We believe that working together helps us grow talent, build trust and use the right technologies to face cybersecurity challenges in the future. From the moment of creation of the Astana IT University in 2019, it prepares IT specialists for the IT industry. Cybersecurity specialization is very popular and interest in it grows every year. We are confident that the development of competences in this area and international collaboration is the key to a sustainable future”.

Karina Anguelieva, Executive Director of International Science and Technology Center: “ISTC celebrated 30 years in 2024. The core of our mission 30 years ago was to provide safety and sustainability through supporting researchers and all those who are involved in knowledge and technology to do creative, knowledgeable, quality work for the benefit of society. But nowadays we are talking about emerging technologies, data economy, digitalization. So, we must be aware, and we must work in synergy, and I am very proud of ISTC funding programs, contributing to science and technology, including cybersecurity component”.
