XIV International Forum & Exhibition "Security and Safety Technologies" February 3-6, 2009, Crocus Expo, Moscow, Russia

On February 3-6, the XIV International Forum & Exhibition 'Security and Safety Technologies' was held in Moscow. ISTC sponsored the participation of the Institute of Robotics and Technical Cybernetics, providing senior representatives of the institute with an opportunity to present the results of ISTC funded projects such as Partner project #3148, previously chosen as 'Project of the Year 2007' by the Japanese company Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

The event, the biggest of its kind in Russia, brought together leading security manufacturers and distributors in Closed-Circuit Televisions & Access Control, Alarms & Monitoring, Video Surveillance, IT-Security, Transport Security & Search Equipment, Fire Control and Safety at Work technologies. International companies such as PANASONIC, HITACHI KOKUSAI ELECTRIC INC, SAMSUNG, ADT, BOSCH, TYCO, GEUTEBRUECK, THALES, SYSTEM SENSOR FIRE DETECTORS, AXIS COMMUNICATIONS took part in the event.

Managing Director of the European Office of Hitachi Kokusai Electric, Masahiko Kato, attending the event, commented: “We’ve been working with ISTC for 3 years now and we were very happy with the 1st generation of software that was created by RTC institute, that is why we are now developing a 2nd generation with them. It’s a fascinating experience for us to work with an organization such as ISTC.”

The Head of the International Contacts Department of the Russian State Scientific Center for Robotics and Technical Cybernetics, Boris Spassky, demonstrated various robots and technologies developed by his institute to various potential Partners of both the Center and ISTC. Mr Spassky reiterated the Center's partnership with ISTC: “It is a pleasure to be here, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the financial and organizational support of ISTC.”

The State Scientific Center of Russia, the Central R&D Institute for Robotics and Technical Cybernetics, is one of the largest research centers of Russia. It was established in 1968 as the 'Special Designing Bureau of Technical Cybernetics' in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). The Center's activities focus on research, development and the creation of robotics and technical cybernetics for space, air, terrestrial and sea applications.
