The workshop was attended by participants from the ISTC Governing Board namely Ron Lehman the ISTC Chairman along with the EU Board Member Eddie Maier, plus ISTC Executive Director David Cleave,  JAEA, ISCN, MEXT, US DoE NNSA and various US Laboratories (ORNL, PNNL), along with representatives from the South Africa University of Witwatersrand and the Indonesian Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) and the Argentinean Ministry of Energy.  The Workshop was moderated by Al-Sharif Nasser Bin Nasser of MESIS.

This second Metrics workshop aimed to follow up on the goals and reviews of the Tbilisi workshop in 2017 and to look at the importance of Metrics from a funding perspective.

The format mainly took the way of case study group breakout and discussions in two parallel groups from the training side versus the funding side, looking at metrics as a management tool, incorporating metrics in international partnerships and effective metrics communication for funding justifications and outreach, capturing cultural considerations and factors and sustainability amongst a few of case studies discussed.

The successful outcome and results of the workshop will now culminate in the drafting of best practice guidelines that can be used by ISTC and others as a guide to improve the evaluation and assessment of future implementation of effective workshops, training and seminars.
