The Executive Director of ISTC, Adriaan van der Meer, will visit Tajikistan on 30 March 2011. 

During his visit a number of high level contacts will take place with relevant Tajik authorities.

Moreover, the Executive Director will participate in a Working Conference discussing the outcome of ISTC funded projects in Tajikistan in the areas of hepatitis and containment of radioactive waste.

Tajikistan is a member of ISTC since 2003. So far, ISTC has funded more than 40 projects in Tajikistan with a value of 10 million USD.

Work in Tajikistan covers many scientific areas including the modernization of the country's research infrastructure. 

ISTC has brought international expertise to Tajikistan including in the area of biosafety and biosecurity. 

Tajik researchers will soon be trained in Germany in this area as part of an ISTC project.

Young scientists from Tajikistan have also participated in the first ever ISTC Summer School held in 2010. A new similar event is under preparation to promote interest among the young in scientific work.
