Project summary

Str.pneumoniae (Pneumococcus) is the exciter of different serious diseases of adults and children, of life-threat infections for little children and elderly persons with chronic diseases. This exciter may be is cause of invasion infection in the form of bacteriemia and meningitis, infection of upper respiratory tracts, otitis and sinusit. Streptococcus pneumoniae ia is the source of infection in 60-87% in structure of Streptococcus bacteriemia. Streptococcus bacteriemia has lethal outcomes in15-36% cases for adults, lethality of the elder persons is about 30-40% in average. Str.pneumoniae is able to form quickly resistance to many classes of antibacterial substances. The level of this resistance is characterized by considerable interregional variability. Wide distribution of numerous resistance of Streptococcus is related to the capacity of resistance genes for a horizontal exchange. First at all it is characteristic feature of genes which are resistant to tetracyclines, erythromycines and chloramphenicol, and which included in conjugative transpozones. Among alternative approaches it is offered to use specific bacteriophages. There were not marked negative effects for human and animals under phagotherapy. It was proved safety of phages application. Design of treatment sample of Str.pneumoniae phages has several difficulties. The main problem is isolation of pneumococcus phages from different nature sources, now only some forms of Str.pneumoniae bacterial viruses are isolated. Another approach based on the use of products of phages killing the bacterium, for example, endolysine appears more perspective.
