Project summary

The project's purpose is the creation of the methods, algorithms and software for analysis and processing of 3D images and applying of all received results for analysis of vasculature in 3D angiography images. The expected results of the project implementation are important from the point of view of extending international scientific cooperation in the field of medical image processing.

Expected project results are addressing two Categories of Technology Development: Development and Demonstration. As a result of the scientific research works conducted during the project execution, new algorithms will be established, including the development of the integrated information technology (IT) and software for processing the CT angiography 3D images. To demonstrate the vitality of the approach for processing the CT angiography images, a pilot prototype on the designed IT will be established.

Execution of the project will allow to attain the following goals and objectives of ISTC - to offer Belarusian weapon-oriented scientists and specialists participating of the project, before connected with the development of rocket technologies of weapon delivery – an opportunity to redirect their skills to peaceful activities in the field of a medical image analysis and processing.

The purpose of the project will be attained within 6 months as a result of the fulfilment of the following stages: creation of the software for vasculature extraction; creation of the software for vasculature analysis and measurement; creation of the software of 3D image Segmentation Pipeline.

The scientists and specialists in the IT field from UIIP NASB will be involved in the fulfilment of the project. UIIP NASB has achieved significant scientific and practical results in the field of input-output of videoimages, digital image and signal processing,

In case of 3D angiography image of brain it will be investigated every basic step of its processing and determined most fitting specific methods and algorithms. Full segmentation pipeline for 3D angiography image should include only essential steps for quick processing and analysis with minimal distortion of significant information.
