Project summary

The structural shell of the earth crust of any territory is represented by a complex system of linear deformations (tectonic zones, regional local fractures thrusts, upthrow faults and etc.), non-linear structures (circular, turbulent latticed, concentric and et.). The complex mosaic of some blocks component structural shell of the given territory represents the earth surface of specific regions.

Availability of data about blocks of specific territories allow as to activate artificially a course of natural processes so to foresee and consequently organize a protection of given objects.

Mark-changeable movements of morphostructural blocks within the newest and rejuvenated tectonic fractures cause all expansive Caucasian earthquakes. Analysis of statistically powerful earthquakes (magnitude 6-9) manifest that the period of splash of seismic activation has begun since middle of the XX century.

The earthquake action over arising and activating inclination-gravitational processes are reflected dually:

  1. In the first case like a "power" factor accountable for a formation of rupture dislocation, large-scale and tremendous rock falls, landslides, avalanches and et.
  2. In the second case like a "stimulant" mechanism of removing gravitational hillside from balance range.

Potentially dangerous, as well geologically intensive objects of geological environment and particularly in the areas of urbanized and strategically important linear objects will be revealed.

The aim of the available project is a scrutiny of trigger mechanism leading to splash of energy and activation of damaging and rousing human victims geological processes. Studying of interconnection and interdependence of linear and non-linear structures of the earth crusp of the region (territory of Georgia) makes it possible to reveal potential objects with energetically instability, specify a natural connection of these centers with dangerous geodinamic processes intensity and a zone of influence.

Therefore, it will be carried out revealing of characterof modern tectonic movements and seismic data, as a major factor of formation of large-scale exodynamic processes.

The geographic Arial of earthquake manifestation of definite intensity zones should be taken into consideration. It will be advantaged by the systematic analysis of landslide phenomenon in connection with their arrangement for engineer-geological conditions. As well it will be revealed total series of landslide rhithmisity in the different temporary dimensional measurements existing heterogeneous mechanism of generation, and factors causing landslide processes regularity

All these factors will make it possible to reveal potential energetically insatiable objects, to specify a natural connection of the same centers with the dangerous geodinamic processes intensity and a zone of influence, to concentrate every means for major objects protection (lines of communication, particularly important engineering facilities) and urbanized territories aseptically within the zone of earth crust knots with potential instability to prevent human victims and reduce possible material damages. For various ways of development and manifestation of those processes and consequences of their coercion upon urbanized territory and engineering objects will be worked out, as well economical valuation of consequences of their coercion (damage).

The specialists engaged in the project expected to be highly skilled and have an experience of long standing thorough theoretical knowledge on geology, geodinamic, tectonic, engineering geology, geoecology, and ecology of landscape. They are the authors of great number of scientific works (some monographs among them) published as in Georgia so in Russia, the USA, Turkey, Germany, the UK, Malaise and etc.

The proposed project should be considered a basically and applied category. An application of data got in result of the given project will contribute establishing a character of landslide-gravitational phenomenon within the tectonically strained objects on the one hand, and revealing and designing of those phenomena beyond the zones of urbanized territories which will make it possible to carry out a quite new way of seismic zonation on the other hand, that in result will contribute reducing ecological risk factor and extent of damages under the influence of geodynamic processes, which should produce specific socio-economic effect.
