Project summary

The project objective is to assess the protector and detoxication effect of biologically active nutrient supplements prepared on a base of vegetable origin and natural absorbers in view of enhancement of the domestic animal productivity at the Kazakhstan man-caused pollution lands.

The project main tasks are as follows:

  1. Investigation of qualitative and quantitative composition of environmental toxic substances in principal components of the Eastern-Kazakhstan provincial agricultural systems.
  2. Investigation of the rural animal gastrointestinal tract main functions against impact of heavy metal salts
  3. Overall assessment of the animal organism resistance on a base of studies of vital organ cellular membranes
  4. Selection of efficient nutrient supplements among local natural substances capable to remove inorganic toxicants from organism, to stabilize organism functional state and to enhance resistance. Creation of a system of biological monitoring for animal productivity enhancement.
  5. Development of a technique of feeding for various groups of animals by preparations to be chosen and transfer the preparations to local farms.

In Kazakhstan contamination of environment by industrial waste and dissemination of heavy-metal salts and radionuclides throughout all components of eco system is serious ecological problem. The Eastern Kazakhstan is a large urbanized region. The regional current ecological state proves that enterprises of exploring and reprocessing industries, long-term activity of the Semipalatinsk test site as well as imperfect technologies of agro-industrial complex are responsible for man-caused impact of all components of living organism habitat. A problem of biological response of an animal/human being organism to long-term impact of toxicants, especially, states of resistance and reproduction is of great scientific significance. Some specialists carried out reconnoitering studies on assessment of contamination of soil, water, plants, and animal organisms by heavy metals and radionuclides. Ecologists from special laboratories of the Eastern-Kazakhstan enterprises recognize that 400 to 500 tons of industrial releases propagate to considerable distances, accumulating in soil, water and vegetation cover.

Use of various biologically active supplements in the Eastern-Kazakhstan province under studies in the frame of proposed project is substantiated by accessible cheap raw: regional field of natural adsorbents of bentonite, wide species variety of wild and rural cultures. Development of economically efficient process to apply cheap preparations of local natural origin will make it possible to bring into a healthy state large populations of animals.

  1. Principal physical and chemical properties of environment toxicants will be studied in agricultural eco system components.
  2. Functional peculiarities of digestion organs suffered from impact of heavy metals, radionuclides and other toxins containing in soil, water and vegetation will be studied.
  3. Optimum process orders to feed animals will be developed with analytical accompaniment on a base of natural adsorbents and vegetation components, following the scheme:

  3. Results of the studies to be carried out will be transferred to local managing subjects.
  4. By results of experiments on the scheme shown above, screening of the nutrient supplements possessing biologically active properties that provide protector and detoxication effects will be carried out. A system of animal productivity biological monitoring will be created.
