Project summary

The goal of the project is invention of uncovered grape culture system in Kazakhstan on the base of new cold resistant sorts by using biotechnological methods of reproduction and working out the raising technology.

All productive vineyards of Kazakhstan raised in covered culture system that causes high labor expenditure of raising. At present it is aggravated also by absence of mechanization means. In accordance with that a gross grape production has been reduced. Provision of winemaking industry with the row materials became a big problem in Kazakhstan.

Avoiding the coverage of vineyards for winter allows reducing of labor expenditures and labor effort in spring to a marked degree.

New sorts of grape – Almaly, Bereke, Iliisky good for vine-making with the high resistance to cold and main diseases were introduced at Kazakh Research Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture. Invention of mentioned sorts allows to raise grape culture in Kazakhstan without coverage for winter and with minimum chemical treatments. Sorts have high technological qualities as the best row materials for making different types and brands of red wine.

There are 2 doctors, 17 cand. of Sc. and 13 research and technical specialists taking part in project. All specialists know the modern methods of research; many of them had training courses at research centers of Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Israel and others.

In a given project it is planed to get the plants grown in vitro at biotechnological laboratory, with the following micro clone reproduction and adaptation in the hothouse. The raised standard stocks will be passed into production.

The planed volumes of production are 100-120 thousand stocks in a year, which will provide to plant 30-40 hectare of vineyards. Kazakh Research Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture carries out invention of uncovered grape culture system that is applicable to the conditions of Kazakhstan. The samples of new brands of wine will be produced out of the gained harvest.
