Project summaryHigh temperature gas-cooled reactors with gas turbine require to applicate high-strength vessel materials. Preliminary developments resulted in establishing that high-temperature chromium steel 10X9MFB meets necessary requirements. However this steel is not included in the list of materials allowed for application in NPP and metallurgical industry did not make this steel in necessary billet weightings and forging thicknesses.
The goal of the project is fabrication of pilot meltings and standard forgings from 10X9MFB steel, with the preliminary testing being performed in order to validate the possibility of application for GT-MHR reactor vessel.
The Results Expected
As a result of work at the Project necessary documentation will be prepared, experimental forgings and welded materials will be fabricated and preliminary tests will be performed. The data obtained allow drawing a conclusion about the possibility of 10X9MFB steel application in GT-MHR reactor plant.
Technological Approach and Methodology
When performing the works the experience of fabrication of high-tonnage forgings, modern equipment and standard test methods will be used. The calculation analyses will be performed using computers and tested programs.
