Project summaryMain purpose of the project is the finding of the optimum practical solution of the problem of timely warning about sporadic increases of solar activity (SISA).The project envisages to determine and to select key geoeffective parameters, to formulate algorithm of identification expected geomagnetic effects in terms of power and to develope instrumental means, which will allow executing measurements of necessary parameters onboard a spacecraft with the purpose of timely warning about possible hazard to functionability of engineering systems and to health of people. A short-term forecast of SISA becomes possible due to the relationship of current characteristics — for example, such as electromagnetic and corpuscular radiation of the Sun or parameters of the interplanetary magnetic field and solar-wind plasma — with their manifestations at magnetospheric and geomagnetic levels.
Technical approach. During implementation of the project it is supposed to analize available up-to-data works and experimental data on SISA forecast, theoretical selection of geoeffective parameters, the development of method to control SISA, mathematical modelling of phisycal conditions of appearance of SISA and response functions of detectors, the development of most important details of hardware and software SISA control system and to make the models and to test them in laboratory conditions, and also the development and preparation of elements of on-duty instrumentation for monitoring of interplanetary space.
Expected outcomes. The elaborating of methods and algorithms of SISA timly warning, making models to analize SISA and development the means of timely warning of SISA for a practical realization of instrumentation with regard to its operation conditions in space.
The potential role of the forein participants of the project. Joint determination of problems and discussion of the project results at each stage of activities, and also during joint preparation of the publications.
