Project summaryThe goal of the project is to write and prepare to publish a monograph on the physics of high-energy phenomena, originated from nonlocal processes, taking place in dense gases with superimposed strong external electric field. These phenomena are as follows: the generation of accelerated electron beams, x-rays and neutrons by electric discharges under laboratory and natural conditions (thunderstorm fields) at gas pressures up to the atmospheric. The proposed project relates to investigations, which are being carried out in Russia, USA and other countries and does not creates military objects or workings out. It is devoted to fundamental physics of ionizing processes in dense gases with strong electric field and their applications in the generation technology of penetration radiations, in laser technique and in possible applications to solve some industrial, medicine and ecology problems. The work will partially switch over efforts of 2 former weapon scientists and 1 specialist to peaceful activity. The authors are intended to compile separated information, available in libraries of Russia and other countries, to systematize and analyze it and if necessary to carry out additional calculations. In the course of the work on the project four reviews on some sections of the monograph and original papers on unpublished materials are supposed to be published. The project will favor to incorporate achievements of physicists have being worked on weapon programs of VNIIEF into the world science, to stimulate the study of nonlocal processes in discharges in dense gases and development of new peaceful tech nologies based on high-energy phenomena caused by these processes. The project outcome: four reviews and ready to be published manuscripts of typewritten monograph (35-40 author sheets) in Russian and English with adequate illustration materials. Commercial value: it is supposed to publish the monograph in Russian and English.
