Project summary

However, these materials need investigations, testings of conformity with properties specified by the Project, technological development with use of special fabrication method, putting into blank production by house industry.

There is no experience in using the materials under such conditions in the world practice.

The selection and development of the structural materials for high operating parameters is a difficult technical problem which must be given a priority direction.

Uniqueness of the work on the Project consists of creation of large-dimensional blanks from new heat-resistance alloys required special equipment, research and development of non-traditional fabrication methods andapplication of the most modern scientific achievements.

EXPECTED RESULTS

In the course of the project fulfillment the materials, technologies and methods of turbocompressor component fabrication will be selected, pilot blank mock-ups and welding materials manufactured, preliminary testing of materials and analysis of their data carried out. Data obtained will allow to conclude preliminarilly about possibility to use proposed materials in the turbocompressor, in equipment of the GT-MHR reactor plant and other reactor systems, as well as for components operating under similar conditions in gas turbine manufacture, nuclear machine building and other branches of industry and to determine a conception of further activity progress.

TECHNICAL APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY

Experience of large-dimension blanks’ fabrication from heat-resistance alloys, special technologies and methods of fabrication, modern equipment and standard methods of testings will be used at work carrying out.

When it is necessary to perform calculations they will be carried out using up-to-date computer and verified codes.

POSSIBLE PARTICIPATION OF FOREIGN PARTNERS

Representation of information on the basis of the results of activity performed to foreign partners on the GT-MHR project: firm General Atomics (USA), Framatome (France) and Fuij Electric (Japan).

Exchange by experience, joint discussion and analysis of test results obtained.

Determination of a conception for further investigations.
