Representatives of various ISTC Parties attended the meeting, including Canada, the European Union, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, United States of America, Norway, Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Republic of Tajikistan. Belarus participated as rotating CIS Board member.

On 3 December, the US 'Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism' released its findings on preventing nuclear and biological terrorism threats. Scientists working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva are going through exciting times as they completedtheir first test run of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) on 10 September. ISTC representatives met with the Confederation of Danish Industries (DI), which groups together a number of large innovation-driven enterprises, to discuss increasing R&D cooperation with scientific experts from Russia/CIS. Representatives from Danfoss A/S, Haldor Topsoe A/S, Hempel A/S and Novozymes A/S were among the participants at the meeting, which took place on September 3rd, 2008 at DI´s premises in Copenhagen.

Adriaan van der Meer, accompanied by Deputy Executive Director, Leo Owsiacki, visited the Institute of Immunological Engineering in Lyubuchany, RF, for frank discussions with the Director General of Biopreparat, Mr. V.N. Kolesniko, and Director General of the institute, Mr. S.Y. Pchelintsev, together with their Deputies and Heads of Departments.
